The Arapahoe Park and Recreation District (10.5 square
miles, population @42,000) is seeking a highly
qualified and experienced Assistant District
Manager.
The Park District manages 20 parks, 1 skate
park, 1 outdoor swimming pool, 1 award winning
recreation center and 12+ miles of trials.
The Assistant District Manager assists the
District Manager in planning, directing, and
coordinating the management of the District’s park
system and recreational amenities.
This includes facilities and recreational
planning, parks and facility operations, parks
administration, public relations, marketing and
special events.
This position assumes the District Manager’s
duties and functions during any absences of the
District Manager, or as assigned.
This position requires candidates to have a
Bachelors Degree in parks and recreation, business
administration, or related field, and five (5) or
more years of progressively responsible experience
in parks and recreation leadership including at
least two (2) years of experience in a supervisory
capacity with park and recreation management.
Candidates must also possess excellent oral
and written communication skills, a professional
knowledge of park and facility operations, landscape
maintenance, and municipal finance procedures.
Familiarity with grant programs and grant
writing a plus.
